Welcome to Texas Stages: Spotlighting the Rooms, the Players, and the Scene

Every musician remembers the first time they stepped onto a new stage. There’s a distinct energy in a live music room before the amplifiers click on and the first chord strikes. It’s in the history etched into the wooden floorboards, the way the acoustics bounce off the back walls, and the faces of the crowd waiting for the first song. In Texas, our stages are legendary—but they don't mean a thing without the people who build them, run them, and stand on them every night.

That is exactly why I built this section of the blog. Texas Stages isn't going to be a corporate review column or a list of tourist traps. This is a dedicated, artist-eye view of the Gulf Coast music scene right here in our backyard. From the major listening rooms to the hidden acoustic corners, we are going to dive deep into the spaces that keep real music alive.

When you tune into this column, you can expect three things:

• Honest Venue Spotlights: What is the sound system actually like? How is the room laid out? I'll give you a real look at the venues keeping the lights on for local talent.

• Artist Features: This stage belongs to a community. I’ll be highlighting the incredible fellow musicians, songwriters, and players making waves across our regional scene.

• The Booking Perspective: For my fellow musicians out there, I’ll share notes on what makes a room a great place to play, from load-in logistics to crowd engagement.
