Wailin' Gnash Acoustic Demo Video
This is just ONE TAKE on a really great song.
I started playing with it one afternoon as I was practicing, and I liked what I heard. It had been a while since I had actually sat back and listened to the original version, so the vibe in this version is really centered around the lyric. Especially the final line in the chorus, "I've been wasted, and I can't find my way home". MAN OH MAN, I'M HERE TO TOLD YA, that hits hard.
At some point I decided to record a super simple guitar and vocal thing as a demo for Wailin' Gnash Acoustic. Just in case someone says, "well do you have anything we can hear?" I hadn't really planned it, but this was recorded one day in the process of checking out some different methods of recording acoustic guitars. And since I had just been practicing this for the acoustic gig, this is what came out.
Anyway, this was recorded with just one guitar and one vocal since that is what I'm attempting to give you a demo of here.
It took several times to get it the way I liked it, but the guitar part was recorded in one pass, start to finish, with no punch ins, or overdubs.
The vocal track is just a simple compilation of about four passes I sang.
My goal was to leave this very stripped down and authentic. There are no big tricks goin' on here. A guitar, a voice, and a little reverb.
We are calling this portion of the recording I am sharing "Can't Find My Way Home - Part 1". This mix is a little loud. It is unfinished, and part of a longer version.
THIS MIX IS FOR DEMO PURPOSES ONLY -
At any rate, I hope you enjoy this "chill pill" spin on the first section of this legendary song.
Thanks and have a great day,
Chris 🙏
